Stem Cells and regrowing Pig teeth.

What a title ehh? "...regrowing Pig teeth", perhaps I'm just tired but that sounds funny. Those who may not know me should know that I am a huge advocate of stem cell research. I believe it holds to key to curing many of the worlds woes.

Here is an interesting case in point. At the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, Los Angeles, Caligornia researchers have been able to regenerate the teeth of pigs.

“Dr. Songtao Shi said: “In this study, we use stem cell technology to generate ‘a bio-root and periodontal tissue’ along with dental clinical porcelain crown technique to restore tooth function in swine (mini-pig).”

Now if only people would move on from the ethics of it. Many do not realize that many viable research material gets thrown into the trash. For instance in many clinics where abortions take place the embryos are merely discarded. Would we rather a life be thrown away or perhaps used to prolong or even save more lives?

Anyway. The full reference article can be found here.
